A Criteria

“evaluate the impact of international competition on businesses and the effectiveness of their responses to changing conditions in international markets”

A continuation of E7 and C5. However, as in C5, there are two aspects to this criteria:

• judge the significance of foreign competition on a business
• judge the suitability of business response to changes in international markets

On the one hand you are being asked to comment on how competition at an international level impacts on business, focussing on the scale/significance of this. On the other hand you are being asked to comment on the suitability of business strategy in the face of changing requirements in international markets (e.g. a change in European union legislation).

Assistance

A tough criteria! As in C5 it probably helps to translate this into the following question:

“Discuss the suitability of business strategies aimed at improving international competitiveness”

To do this you need to look at real world global companies and evaluate their strategies, especially those that have come about through changing conditions in their markets.

Nobody said getting an A grade was easy.......!
